Going-to future digunakan untuk menyatakan rencana di masa depan atau prediksi yang berdasarkan bukti saat ini.
1. Use of the Going-to Future
1.1 Planned Actions in the Future
Digunakan untuk rencana yang sudah diputuskan sebelumnya.
Example:
We are going to sing at the party.
I am going to visit my grandparents tomorrow.
They are going to travel next week.
1.2 Logical Consequences (Predictions with Evidence)
Digunakan ketika kita yakin sesuatu akan terjadi karena ada tanda atau bukti sekarang.
Example:
Look at that car! It is going to crash into the yellow one.
Look at those dark clouds. It is going to rain.
2. Signal Words
Tidak ada signal words yang pasti untuk going-to future.
Biasanya hanya menggunakan keterangan waktu masa depan, misalnya:
- tomorrow
- next week
- next year
- tonight
3. Form
Struktur:
subject + am / is / are + going to + infinitive
Contoh:
She is going to study tonight.
They are going to buy a new house.
