Tips Penggunaan

Kenali jenis noun terlebih dahulu: Sebelum memilih determiner, tanyakan: Apakah noun ini countable atau uncountable? Singular atau plural? Jawaban akan memandu pilihan determiner Anda.

Tips cepat mengingat:

  • a/an = singular countable, umum
  • the = spesifik, sudah diketahui
  • this/that = singular; these/those = jamak
  • my/your/his = kepemilikan
  • some/any = kuantitas tidak spesifik
  • many/few = countable; much/little = uncountable
  • each = individu; every = kelompok

  • ❌ the my book → ✅ my book / the book
  • ❌ a this idea → ✅ this idea / an idea

Perhatikan bunyi, bukan ejaan, untuk a/an:

  • a university (/j/ = konsonan) ✅
  • an hour (/aʊ/ = vokal, h diam) ✅
  • an MBA degree (/em/ = vokal) ✅

Latih dengan frasa sehari-hari: Buat daftar frasa umum dengan determiner:

  • a cup of coffee, the weather today, my favorite book, some good news, each of us

Perhatikan bagaimana a vs an terdengar berbeda, atau bagaimana this vs these mengubah makna jumlah.
